The Chianti area in Tuscany is one of the most beautiful in the whole region, as well as home to the most well known red wine from Italy. The official Chianti classico area includes the historic hillside villages of Radda, Greve, Castellina and Gaiole. Although Chianti has ancient origins, it has only been recognized by its geographical area since the Middle Ages and officially demarcated by Cosimo Medici III in the early 18th Century.
