In the heart of Val d’Arbia in Tuscany, the family of Giovanni Marini, known by friends as ‘Nanni’, offer the wonderful fruits of ancient pastry chef traditions. Today, the son of ‘Nanni’, Marco, is the keeper of coveted family recipes handed down from Nonna Ada. There is no amaretti biscuit quite like this!
A Christmas must, Panforte, is still cooked in copper pots and then processed manually, maintaining the flavours and aromas of the past. This year we are stocking some of their other divine cakes, similar to Panforte in style but with different ingredients – Torta Floriana with fig and walnut, orange and hazelnut, or almond, fig and citron, all easily paired with a glass of V&C Vin Santo…
