Our best-selling Tuscan oil is Poggio Lamentano, made by the Zyw family on their estate near Castagneto Carducci in the Bolgheri Area, which we have been selling for over 30 years. Indeed, Elizabeth David wrote about it in her first edition of Italian Food (Macdonald, 1954), citing it as one of the best extra virgin olive oils she had ever tasted, with Valvona & Crolla as a supplier! Colline di Lamentano and Poggio Lamentano are produced on the same estate and from the same olives. The difference being that the olives for Colline di Lamentano oil are from younger trees and more recently planted trees whose olives are less intense and produce an oil which is lighter in style. Same quality but less power. Great for transforming a basic dish into something really special. Delicious when drizzled over steamed or boiled vegetables, grilled or roasted fish, meat, pasta, rice or just serve it with good bread.
