Fontodi's 2018 vintage was characterized by a relatively cool spring and a summer in which average temperatures and good rainfall ensured minimal stress for the vines. in addition the harvest was slightly delayed. Given the good conditions The grapes were able to benefit from additional ripening time that ultimately produced a wine of impressive structure, elegance and balance. the 2018 vintage is very drinkable when young but can also age very well. £169.
The 2019 vintage was mild overall with some precipitation in late spring resulted in strong water reserves for the summer. All in all, the summer was consistently warm, with no anomalies. The ripening period was followed by good weather that resulted in perfectly ripe grapes in September. This is a vintage where the wine has wonderful structure and the palate is typically rich and full, complemented by rabid acidity and characteristic fine tannins. £139.
